    67 Headlight circuit breaker ID

Removed my headlight circuit breaker to confirm it was correct for the car. I have an early 67 BB. Attached is a picture of the circuit breaker I removed. It doesn't appear to be a correct GM#4849847. It does say Tung Sol 40A 12V on one side of the body along with "Made in USA" and the numbers 374 on the other side of the body. 40A is stamped on the mounting flange. Could this be correct for my car?

Dereck, I realize that this post is almost 2 years too late, but I have provided a picture of an NOS GM4849847. It's exactly like the one on my early 67 BB, which I have owned for 36 years. I have not touched the part that is on my car, and there is no evidence it has been removed, such as damage to the corners of the nuts that hold the wires to the terminals. You can't see it, but the sealer between the top and the rest of the case has run down the sides slightly, like the one in my car. On the 4 corners (when installed with bracket on the bottom) are the castings on the top:
    - upper left hand corner: LITTELFUSE
    - upper right hand corner: U.S.A.
    - lower right hand corner: BAT.
    - lower left hand corner: blank
40A is stamped on bracket upside down when installed.
    Hope this helps. Michael

Sorry, I forgot to add the picture of the circuit breaker GM4849847 in my previous post and could not get my picture to attach to this post. The link above will show you what this circuit breaker looks like. Michael

        Michael,
I must have missed your response. This is a big help. I've since found one like you have posted. One follow up question is what is the headmark on the attachment screws on your original car? Are recessed hex head screws with a "D" correct?
        thanks
        Dereck

Dereck, congratulations on finding a correct 40A circuit breaker. They are a fairly rare part. I just checked the attaching recessed 5/16" hex head screws. No headmarks on mine. There do not appear to be any scratches around the screw heads on the 2 hole bracket holding the circuit breaker. So, I could guess that mine have not been removed, and if so, could be the original screws. I don't know what headmark is correct, but there are likely several variations.

            Michael,
Thanks again for the response. My screws are the same as yours with no headmarks. Perhaps "D" headmark is another variation. It was tough finding a correct Littlefuse 40A circuit breaker. Just like any other part it takes persistence and help from others in the hobby.
            take care,
            Dereck
