    67 lower hood weatherstrip pins

I have searched the forum and cannot locate information regarding how far into the weatherstrip the are pins located. Would appreciate any help on this and/or a photo. This is a St Louis car and not A.O. Smith.

    Thanks,
    James

The pins are located inside the tube just far enough in to hold the weatherstrip. You will notice in the picture the pin is pulled though the weatherstrip.

Were these pins not used on AO Smith cars?

I don't thinks so, at least none in my original 67 AO Smith hood.

According to several posts I have found on the forum, the A.O. Smith cars did not have the pins to hold weatherstripping.

Follow up on brian's question: Would you expect to see the weatherstrip on a AO Smith car to be longer in the area after the curve ?

Do not know that for certain, however there was discussion on this forum and that seemed to be the consensus. That discussion was about 15 months ago. Sorry do not have the link.

My AO Smith 67 did not have the pins, just glued in place with sloppy glue. I think they were a little longer than the St. Louis cars but don't have any comparison.

If requested, I'll go out in the rain to the garage, and measure (and maybe take some pics) of mine, never been touched hood weatherstripping.

Nice seeing you at Kissimmee, you Floral Park kid. My parents lived there for quite a few years, after they sold my growing up home in Hollis, NY.

Left Hollis for California (in my 67) in 69.
