While installing the door cove molding, I ran in to a problem with the lower molding for the drivers side door. It appears that the finished edge of the molding, which would be the edge near the hinge was angled in the wrong direction.
The long portion of the angle was at the bottom edge instead of at the top edge. This resulted in insufficient room to drill through the door lip and install the last clip. Please see the first picture below.
I ended up locating a NOS molding and installed the new one without problems as shown in the second photo.
However, I am curious as to what the original molding could have been for. Anyone have an idea?
