High Quality Quadrajet Rebuild Kit - source?

Does anyone happen to know of a Quadrajet rebuild kit that has a Viton accelerator pump seal and a "windowed" needle & seat that doesn't cost an arm and a leg? I'm putting a Q-jet (1970 350/350) together for someone who isn't interested in spending $80 at Cliff's if there is a different kit without all of the extras that has at least these two vital components.

If you know of such a kit, please let me know. The Jiffy ones et al from the local parts stores are trash.

just use the windowed needle seat over again with a fresh needle. i do that a lot or you can drill thru the non windowed needle seat to add the window. the needle seat does not wear out because of the viton tip of the needle. a plus is the needle seat will be the correct size if it is the original. check the kit you buy to see if the pump cup is blue then you are OK. i use hygrade kits

The original windowed seat is gone.

I will see if anyone carries the Hygrade kit, but the last one I saw did not have a windowed seat and I don't recall the pump cup being Viton - but I will check.

the hygrade kit will NOT have a windowed needle seat and the only kits i have every seen with one is old GM kits. just drill crossways thru the needle seat with a .125 diameter drill right above the seat as that is what i do if i do not have a windowed needle seat. a fresh kit should have a viton pump cup but will not have a complete pump as you must change the pump cup on the old pump

You might try this guy http://www.thecarburetorshop.com/ He makes his own kits and restores carbs.

Dr Patrick, Don't forget that besides using viton parts on the carb you need to address the engine fuel pump. You need to find a pump rebuild kit good for alky. The corn fuel is killing our cars.
For the FI's we have a rebuild kit for ethanol (yuk). I have been waiting to hear stories on the carbs and now I did.
Clem provided some good info on the viton pump cup.
So the viton pump cup comes in a blue color.
The FI viton parts come in either brown or black. Say your eyes were closed and someone put the viton parts and the buna rubber parts in your hand and you were told to tell them apart without looking.
It's very easy. The viton parts are not soft and slick feeling like buna rubber. The viton o'rings feel like old semi-hard o'rings. Not smooth feeling.

                JD,

the fuel pumps for a 1970 are not rebuildable.

Patrick, I told ChePhart to concentrate on rebuilding fuel infestation units in another post

You might want to look around for a source of Tomco inlet valves. I used to get them for QJ's back in the 70's and thought they had gone away until I got some in a kit for my AFB from Ecklers. They use a Viton disc and a plunger pin (instead of a needle) and are open around the sides of the barrel with oval ports. They flow real well and seat as good or better than a needle/seat. I also found I could lower the float levels with them in order to help combat the fuel percolation problem I used to have with today's crappy gas. The only change I made when using them in my AFB was to modify the top plate gasket as it appeared that a portion of the incoming gas passing through the side ports would exit above the gasket and then have to find it's way to the float chamber through the 1/4" vent hole in the gasket. I simply cut out some of the gasket in that area around the needle/seat (inlet valve). I think I still have one in my parts for a QJ. They even have a hex head shape which makes them easy to install and tighten with a socket. I love them.

they were bought out by "champion rebuilders" who make a lot of the carb kits
