Re: fuel pump
Hi! John
Your picture of the fuel pump does not show a casting line in the area of the stamped number. I have seen some C-1 4657 pumps with and without the line. Could you please explain the casting line or the lack of?
Thanks for any information

Re: fuel pump
Maybe someone more familiar with the nuances of the 40083 pump can answer that - I haven't followed that detail.- Top

Re: fuel pump
You can see the line I am referring to in this photo of a 4656 pump.

Re: fuel pump
If you look closely at the third picture of mine , the one on the right has that line albeit less pronounced the yours. The lower one on the left does not .
I am going to take a leap here and say it was probably the difference from a "first run" to a "last run" using that particular cast . They did wear out . In fact its probably also why some have sush a pristine AC logo on top and others are barely visable.

Re: fuel pump
Also the 40083 was cast of magnesium, so it has typically a darker finish than the typical pump, also note the two reinforcements between the tower and the circular surface covering the diaphragmBill Clupper #618- Top

"also note the two reinforcements between the tower and the circular surface covering the diaphragm"
William,
Funny , but now that you bring that up , upon closer inspection (picture one ) One of mine has the reinforcements and one does not .
That is a much bigger difference than the cast line Ray pointed out .

Re: fuel pump
If it's missing the reinforcements, it's a "reproduction" to be kind, and not a very good one.Bill Clupper #618- Top
