Unfortunately while starting the process of changing my valve seals I made the job much bigger than it had to be. I remembered to pull the wire off of the coil at the last second, but not before I plugged all of the holes down to the lifter valley. One of the wing nuts from my ignition shielding slipped out of my hand and now I am changing the oil pan gasket. The wing nut was sitting on top of the pan baffle. At least I found it.
I am using a one-piece Fel-Pro OS-30061 gasket and Permatex Copper sealant. I need some quick input as to how much sealant to apply and where to apply it. I assume I should put the gasket on the pan first, is that right? I will clean everything up and make sure the surface of the pan is true. A quick blow by blow on the basics would be much appreciated. Maybe I can get to those seals tomorrow!
