What should be the finish on the inner fenders on a 65? The J -G says semi-gloss black. Is this correct? The normal blackout is semi-flat so this is why I question the book? Thanks Tom

Re: Inner fenders ? 65
Without expressing gloss factor in a technically sufficient manner (Degrees of gloss or %-gloss), then we're stuck with the idiosyncracies of the English language. If the range is from flat to full gloss, then the terms semi-gloss and semi-flat are the same--midway between full gloss and flat.
So, take your pick of terms. I see it the same as calling the gas tank half full or half empty...- Top

Re: Inner fenders ? 65
Tom -- my understanding [and I'm no paint guy], at least as applied to passenger cabin finishes for Corvette, is that there are 3 levels of gloss that correlate to a flat/low/full gloss description, and are obtained by adding a measured amount of flattening agent to the base blend. They are called Flat (zero gloss); low gloss (3 degrees, which I guess is some measure of the amount of agent to be added) and full gloss, sometimes called 60 gloss (my guess -- no agent added).
Perhaps the same would apply to the engine comp't.I think semi-gloss was the more common term, back in the day.
