    What is this part????

I know how everyone likes guessing games, and these parts have been sitting on my desk for a few years, since I got the opportunity to manufacture these in low volume a few years back as a service part for part of an assembly. Thought I would see how many know what this is, just for fun. I can tell you that it was on ALL Corvettes from 68-82, and most likely on 67 as well.

No, plan view has a cutout like a cam. The control dial would have a continuous round edge and would be black.

Good guess, but the ebrake pulley is much heavier duty than this part. It's molded in one piece out of some kind of strong plastic.

If both views are the same part, i.e. plan view and edge view, then it almost looks like the pulley for the cord used to move the frequency indicator in analog radio tuner...but it's diameter is too big for a radio.

Not a cam out of the windshield wiper washer either; doesn't have enough bumps for a that cam.

Lynn, it's hard to tell what the finish is in the plan view...is that white (indicating plastic) or the flash reflecting in zinc plating (indicating metal)?

This one of the 2 moving parts that is part of the emergency brake handle. It is located inside the black steel frame and is attached to the chrome arm with 2 roll pins. The short cable runs in the channel.

                    Jim,
Looks like you win first totally correct guess and Jeffrey Salz looks like a quick second, with Ray linking it to the E-brake area. I thought Jeffrey might be the one as he rebuilds the assemblies. About ten years ago GM decided they wanted to service the E-brake handle assemblies, and we got the job to produce this part through a supplier. Still coming around from time to time, as they only buy a couple hundred at a time. I believe when we first made these was when they came out with the softer handle, as soon after is when I started those. I didn't think it would take long before someone knew.
