I have a tank sticker from a 1972 Corvette coupe. The VIN, which is typed on as a carbon copy in reverse, is difficult to read.
I thought it said 23800, making the VIN 1Z37K2S523800. I just got off of the phone with the owner of 23800, and his car doesn't seem to match the description, particularly with regard to exterior and interior colors.
It is possible that the 8 is actually a 2, which would make the VIN 1Z37K2S523200. Also, the number 200 is written on the tank sticker in pencil. I assume that this is the job number.
So, three questions...1) Is the 200 written on the tank sticker the job number or the last 3 digits of the VIN?, 2) How common is it for the job number and the VIN to match like this?, and 3) car 23200, where are you?
Last known location was Massachusetts, probably 12-15 years ago.
I will gladly send this tank sticker to the owner of the car that it matches.
