    Underlayment Help 65 convert

Does anyone have pics of what the supposed correct die cut underlayment looks like layed out ? I can't even get agreement on whether the black backing faces up or down. Again, the supposed correct kit's pieces are in no way obvious where they go other than the pieces under the seat. If I could get the correct answer to black blacking facing up or down , that would help.
The underlayment does not appear to fill the floor completely. Won't those voids be felt under the carpet ?
Any pics or help from someone that has done this are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Marty

Thanks Rich, but this is supposed to be correct ,seems to be a popular set from Wilcox,CA etc. It has a thin almost door mattype rubber black backing which may be designed to simulate the original. My biggest problem is where the pieces go ? They are by no means obvious due to there different shapes. I can't tell if a piece was designed to lay against the side of the console, or if a piece goes there at all , or that piece maybe fits in the cargo area somewhere. I called the supplier I got it from and they were no help. " just got to keep playing with it' ? Do you know if the entire floor and cargo area is supposed to be covered with no voids ? I trying to imagine how the carpet would lay flat everywhere without completely filling every spot. The kit I received will not accomplish that. BTW, I have already spent hours in the archives without help,so here I am.
      Thanks
      Marty

        Martyn,

If you would post pictures of each piece I could tell you where it goes.

the only ones missing from these pics are the vertical and the bottom of the luggage area. I took them black side down for contrast against the ashpalt. Obvious to me are the 2 with the seat track cut out assuming the black rubbery side faces up. It's the smaller pieces with the jute cut back approx 1" from one side. No matter if they end up in the correct posistion, are there will be small areas with no backing ? Maybe it doesn't show after the carpet is in ?

            Martyn,

            sterting from the top left:
rear compartment bulk head, it goes on the very back wall and the tabs on either side go by the hinges for the decklid and the curve cut outs allow the lower edge to sit flush on the floor to back wall seam.

            the 2 directly below:
these go on the rear compartment the large lower part side starting down in the jack compartment area and the the thin part goes to the back by the hinges for the top decklid

            third down on the left:
this goes on the rear wheel well hump (there should be 2 it looks like the fifth down on the left should be the mate but cant tell from the pic)

fourth down on the left and the piece dead center:
these should be trans tunnel extension pieces, they will go on the vertical wall of the trans tunnel by the arm rest

top row second from the right and first from the right:
both these pieces start at the trans crossmember hump and lay in the passenger and drivers foot well (I forget which goes on which side)

            2 pieces below:
these go under the seats and the cut outs are for the tracks.

Let us know how you make out, Rich

Thanks Rich. todays progress. rear bulkhead, luggage base in as there are obvious.
i put one piece where is looked like it belong on the passenger side rear were the piece begins in the storage. Check the pic, see if it looks correct.
Also, you mentioned pieces that go on the vertical of the tunnel below the center cushion. That area seems to be covered by the pieces under the seat, all one piece right up to the cushion.

              P4240029.jpg
that leaves me with 2 small piecses that are in the middle of the pic I send in the following post, as I can only upload 4 each post.

two middle pieces are a mystery, especially the one with the jute cut back ?
Back to the previous post and rear storage area, do the tops of the wheel wells get underlay ? one side( no pic) has wiring, antenna etc. ?
                Thanks for your time
