    '57 Plug wire shields

On the small cressant-shaped heat shields that attach to the side of the block and contain the two forward spark plug wires, is there a "left" and a "right" shield....?? I ordered a set from PGN, and both shields are identical..... Is this correct?

Neither the AIM nor the JG provide enough detail to answer this question.....

    thanks

    Garry -

The assembly manual only references P/N 3733124, and Noland's book only discusses that part number, with a photo of an original part; that would seem to imply that the same part was used on both sides. My 57's are long gone, so I don't have a car to check, and they were done before the digital camera era.

        Gary,
I have a few sets and the left and right are identical.

I didn't notice before but these do look identical on a friends unrestored 57 220hp pg. I see a notch on the lower right of the photo, and the same notch appears on the upper left of the photo.

p.s. also interesting is the drivers side wires aren't even going through the wire shield and dangerously close the the exhaust.

            Rich....

Thanks so much for the photo..... it really answers my question..... my repros are configured the same way as the originals in the photo.... It's strange, however, that there wouldn't be a "left" and "right" version of the part..... when mounted in position, the shield on one side has a large opening on the end facing forward; on the other side, the large opening is facing toward the rear..... Maybe keeping them the same saved GM a few cents.....

            Thanks...
