    Accessory question (ROY WHERE ARE YOU?)

    Here an accessory we found on one of the cars we encountered on Zandvoort racing circuit at the American Sunday event (2000+ cars attended).

    Does anyone know what it is for. We speculated it is some sort of reflector to warn upcomming traffic that the high beam is still switch on but it could also be something else???

    Please let me know your thoughts...

    regards,
    Rob.

    I can't remember the precise name, but it's a viewer for traffic lights.

    Lots of old cars used to have visors. If you stopped too far "under" a stop light,you couldn't see it.

    That prism like device allowed you to see the light.

      Here ya go, Rob.

      This is just one of many listed on EBAY.

      Do a search in EBAY motors for "traffic light viewer"

        It is a traffic light viewer that was common on 50's cars and trucks especially if the vehicle had a sun visor that restricted visability looking up if you were too close to the traffic light... I have one on a 57 cameo truck with the sun visor option.....

          Hello;
          On Tri Fives we use and mount the viewers on the dash to windshield trim screw.
          Very nice, often misunderstood, option.
          They are needed on 55-57s Chevrolets even without visors because the front roof line is low in relationship to the drivers eyes.
          Thanks you.

            Editing;
            Brady is correct.
            There are/where several different models available in the fifties.

              GM had over 50 accessories for GM cars of each year . Like said above it was a traffic light viewer. I had a 56 Convertible that had them all even a rain sensor so when the top was down and if it started to rain the top would close automatically
              Every accessory that cold be installed in my 55 Corvette I installed those to improve my driving pleasure .
