The choke on my 69 350/300 will stick with the butterfly in the open position when it gets to operating temp. When its cold, pumping on the gas pedal will not release it, however, if I remove the breather cover, almost the slightest touch of a finger and the butterfly will spring closed (or more accurately, to about 1/4" of closed which iirc is correct). Once I touch it, everything is fine. I can't seem to identify which pivot or linkage is the problem. It seems the butterfly itself is loose, the cam doesn't seem to be stuck (but I'm not sure because if I barely touch it, it comes loose) and the pulloff itself seems to have adequate tension when cold. Anyone else run across this and know what to do to fix it. Its rather annoying to have to open the hood and tinker with it every time I want to start the engine cold.

Phil:
Is the accelerator cable attached to the carb in the right hole?. If it is not it could be hitting something on the air cleaner.

Re: rochester choke sticking
Phil, it could just be a case of lubrication of the pivot points and check the little spring on the choke pull-off. there is a little tension that helps the butterfly close when engine is shut off.check the fast idle cam area to for lubrication.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: rochester choke sticking
Bob,same thing happens on my 65 FI. I have tried polishing the shaft, checked for binding, more tension on choke cover makes it too rich, all parts are present and in right sequence, only thing I havn't tried is new bi-metalic spring.
