Could this have happened at the Factory?

I was looking at the dates codes on my 67 convert. The PS vent window code when looking at from outside
is backwards, you have to read it from inside the car.
Could this come from the factory this way? Or do I have 2 left DS vent windows? Thanks, Bill

Bill - Yes, is my short answer. I checked the vent windows on my 67 Coupe and 66 Roadster and an orphan PS coupe vent window and all the PS vent windows as installed or as would be installed read normally from inside the car. In addition, the curvature of the glass suggests that that the glass is specific for an application, i.e. either DS or PS, so I double checked in the Oct. 1, 1966 Chevrolet Parts & Accessories Catalog (P&A30 Revised) and lists 2 part numbers for the vent windows on both the SPT. CPE. and CONV. Pete

      Pete, Bill,

Funny thing, the passenger side vent window on my 67 reads from the inside, but has an M52 on it with a date code NZ (January 67 for a June car).

The only one that reads from the outside is the D/S vent which is an M51 IZ (June 67)

Both door windows are M51 and read from the inside GZ and IZ (April and June 67).

What's with the M52 on the passenger side vent, and the early date. The book says it should be M51, but I'm sure the passenger side windows and door panel have never been off my car.

        Bill -

The left and right vent window glass are side-specific - the glass is barrel-shaped (curved both vertically and horizontally); if you had a left side glass in the right side frame, it would be painfully obvious. The passenger side vent glass in my '67 also reads from the inside.

St. Louis had nothing to do with the vent glass - it came as part of the complete ventilator assembly (post, front glass run channel, vent window frame, vent window weatherstrip, vent window glass, etc.); they just took it out of the box and bolted it in the door.

          John,

Is your passenger side vent window, if it is clear glass, M51 or M52. My P/S vent window seems to be an oddball (M52) as the other side and the door windows on both sides are M51 like the JG says.
