    1963 Carpet: Correct Weave

I'm struggling with the weave on the 63 carpet ... I understand other folks have too. I've talked a number of times with Al Knoch and we have not been able to come up with the correct material . I talked to Corvette America the other day and they believe they have the correct 80/20 weave. Can anyone confirm the carpet from Corvette America will satisfy the NCRS judges? I'm taking the car to the 2010 National for judging and have a hard time going there know I have a pretty significant deduct and can't do anything about it. Let me know if you know ANYONE who has the correct weave!
    Thanks ...

I had my '63 with Al Knock carpet judged at the 2000 National with no deducts, but maybe things have changed.

If it would help you to know what the correct '63 carpet looks like, I could make a few pictures of my '63. Its carpet is original, not in wonderful condition, but original.

Now the carpet is worth 13 points on originality so could loose 20%, 2.6 rounded to 3 Would not expect much more of a hit than that!

I find it hard to believe that anyone has correct weave - ASK for sample first. Know a number of NCRS members have been looking for correct weave over the years and no luck. Best bet is to find an old carpet shop which may have some in the attic.

Another area you can expect a minor hit on is the lack of double stitching of the edge trim. Do not know of anyone doing that - those machines are long gone.

Those of you out there that have attended Bill Sangreys wonderful seminar on midyear carpets, etc are fully aware of the fact that you cannot buy a repro carpet that has the correct material. JD

Thanks ... I just want to avoid throwing points to the Judges before I unload the car. I have a sample of original carpet which I'll hold onto for comparison. I'm asking for samples from suppliers but looks like I'll have to live with what I have this year.
            Thanks ...
