    hide-away antennas

Has anyone heard of a hide-away antenna. Someone told me that you leave your old antenna alone for 'looks' and connect a hide-away up and leave it hidden behind the radio? All responses will be appreciated. Joe

    Re: hide-away antennas

Joe, some years ago I helped a friend run bare wire inside his soft top deck on his '59 because he did not want to run new cable to the rear fender (). We did it much like running bare coax for indoor wireless communications except it was totally stripped of insulation. As you might think it did not work as well as an extended external antenna. A couple of weeks later we removed it and ran a new cable the correct way. The result was improved reception.

How did the guy get good reception and protect against static from the ignition?

    Steve
