Cove /Door Margain

Another hard to ask question.....sorrry, all of mine seem to be dumb.
On the side fender coves on my 60, how far does the silver paint extend into the door jams or does it stop on the outside?

I have judged and most of what I see is the edge is no more than 1/4 " in and just the edge of the door.
My 58 I made that way and was able to get Duntov and no one questioned the paint margin.
