    63 F I Unit #20 Adapter

I would appreciate any input on this adapter. After checking out the unit, I have moved on to the adapter. I know it is not the original sand cast adapter, but it is different than a normal production adapter. It is a normal 810 adapter with the exception of the edges are very sharp and the overall surface is very rough in comparison to my original. But the biggest question is about the finish. We all know the flat grey that cast aluminum manifolds are, but this one is actually silver. It looks as if it were painted. Maybe a better discription would the finish looks more like a lid shine wise, but it is much rougher. Again, this thing is silver, not grey. Has any one seen anything like this before. There are a few other difference like the square under the fuel meter has the raised area where the mold overflow was and they just hacked it off. It could be cut off and finished to look normal but I have never seen this either. I would never do that, but it helps with the description.
Again, any input would be a great help.

Monte, You and I have the same problem. We have to learn how to post pics here. I never even tried to learn but plan on it later this summer.

When the castings were new they were very shiny. They were like brand new aluminum pots and pans.
When castings are grey they are either chemical fried or aged.
Use you cell phone (I assume you have one) to take a pic of your baseplate and email it to me. johndegreg@aol.com
ALL the baseplates were sandcast. The prototype ones were made from the 59 to 62 '233 baseplates. Not entirely correct. THey were made from an altered '233 mold.
Maybe Jorjorian will post nice pic of his baseplate.
Eric Gill has one also but he is MIA.
Another old NCRS member we don't hear from very often anymore is Franz Estericher. Franzie can post nice pic of a sandcast unit with baseplate. He sent me some but they are lost here in the shuffle. JD
