I've been scouring all of the posts since 1999 that have anything to do with the Generator and Pulley for a C1. I now think I at least know enough to ask an additional question and seek advice.
Here's the situation. My 1960 does not have the original engine. It has a 283 from a 1966 or 1967 Chevy passenger car. It's a fun driver, not a restoration. I've just completed replacing the water pump, and during the process I've made the proper changes to get back to the correct pulleys on the water pump and and harmonic balancer, and added the spacer behind the harmonic balancer so that pulley lines up with the water pump pulley (compensating for the engine mounting plate thickness)
Now that that is complete, the alignment to the generator pulley is not correct. It's probably off about 1/2 inch. I believe I have the correct manifold mounting plate and u-bracket for the corvette. I expect my problem is with the pulley on the generator.
Here's what I know about the generator and pulley:
o Generator: numbers found on the generator include: 2044 on the tag(I assume the full number is 1102044), and other stampings found are: E 10 19 67; 2 19 69; EEE
o It is a tach drive generator
o The generator has an aluminum front plate
o From the postings it appears that the correct generator would be 1102043
o Pulley: 3 5/8 diameter. The pulley is very close to the fan. Definitely not a 1/4 or 1/2 in gap (whatever the correct gap is to be)
Now for the question:
I would prefer not to have to purchase a different generator since this one has been previously rebuilt and functions properly. Soooo... can I use this generator and simply replace the pulley/fan assembly with one such as offered by Corvette Central?

I'm an infrequent poster, but have benefited greatly from the NCRS membership since purchasing my car in 1975.
Thanks as always.
