Re: master judging school?
This is something Roy Sinor has hosted once a year, but there's no guarantee the event IS conducted each year...
In the past, it was held in Dallas, TX (a central location) during the cold/slow months (Feb/March timeframe). It was a CONCENTRATED multi-day event that combined class room lectures with the hands on judging of pre-selected Corvettes intended to visually demonstrate/teach a myraid of intricate issues.
Those who have made the trek, have pretty much spoken highly of their experience! But, this isn't the only way to come down the learning curve. You can also get there, by attending Chapter, Regional and National judging meets.
The higher the level of the meet, the less chance you'll have for being selected as a Team Judge without experience. But, our system HAS a position for 'OJT' (on job training) that we call being an Observer Judge.
There you work with the actual Team Judges and generally act as a secretary. You DO get up close and personal and you DO learn by volunteering to help in this capacity!- Top

Re: master judging school?
In addition to the information that Jack has posted the "school" is actually called National Judging Retreat. Which was held every other year. The National Retreat has been conducted three times in the past and was postponed in 2010 due to a slow economy and the necessity to update the class. I believe or hope that there will be another retreat held in 2011. Each student can only attend two retreats and will earn twenty judging points for each. Another way to attend a school would be a Chapter Judging Retreat, which is similar to the National but only five judging points will be earned. Both require a two day attendance in order to earn the points. Jack makes a good point, as far as becoming a team judge. Without experience you will have a tough time finding a spot on a regional or national judging team, these retreats do help to open the door.- Top

Re: master judging school?
The Heartland Regional (May 20-22) in Des Moines, Iowa will have an Advanced Judging Seminar on both Friday & Saturday. The event will be conducted by Terry McMannon and consist of morning and afternoon sessions each day. If you attend both sessions (same day) you get the same points as a Regional Flight Judge (3 points per day).
It is not too late to register. Look in the recent Driveline for details. See you there! Don H.- Top

Do we use the same form now for Saturday?
Thank you for the help.
RayAnd when you get the choice to sit it out or dance

You don't have to sign up in advance for Terry's school. There will be a sign up sheet at registration or you can show up the day you want to attend. Don H.- Top
