Battery Box A/c 1965

1965 battery box should it be painted. If so is it semi-gloss. The one
i have is not painted but believe it should be.
Did they come with unpainted and painted.

I don't think there is any question that they were painted. As to just what type paint there might be. My opinion, they were done in the standard dipped black finish that most other random parts and brackets were done in. That paint, while many times referred to as semi gloss, is really just cheap black paint, that just has little gloss.

Agree with Wayne W. --- pic is of the original off my 396; tray corner completely rusted out. The air cars had the same tray. Cleaning off the grime, the more you rub (Varsol on a rag) the shinier it becomes, but still it's probably a semi-gloss finish.

Arn't the original boxes suppose to have "triangular " corners ?
