C-3 Jack Dates, did they use 'I'?

My first NCRS post! Was the 'I' used for September, or did they skip it and go right 'J' for jack dating? I know some parts use the 'I' whereas some don't. I'm working on a '73! Thanks!!!

My January built 1970 has a jack stamped M 9. Did they do the same in 1973? Does the 1973 TIM&JG say anything about it? Someplace in the 1973 to 1975 range the font of the stamp changed. Could there have been other changes to the code -- like maybe the year first? I am asking because I don't know those answers and all could be clues at to whether the same month sequence was used or not.

GENERALLY, they used an "I" as the month designation for September when casting parts, but didn't use it when stamping parts.

The way I remember the 'rule' is:

        (1) If the date code was stamped, then minimum wage union labor probably did the deed and 'I' was omitted since the letter 'I' and numeral '1' look alike.

        (2) If the date code was cast/embossed, then 'specialty' labor probably changed the insert in the mold and the letter 'I' WAS used.

Thanks for the help, the casting/vs. stamping makes sense!
