Was my car made on Saturday?

They say don't buy a car made on Monday or Friday, what about Saturday? My 1969 trim tag is L19, did they always make cars on Saturday?

    Thanks

Saturday overtime on the assembly line was hard to get a full crew to make good cars. If the weather was bad and Christmas was near sometimes it worked out. By the 90's manditory overtime made the system have close to a full crew.

      Hi Cal,
I've thought about the days and shifts that were worked too.
I believe my cylinder case was cast on December 31, twilight shift, 1970. If so, they were working New Years Eve. Perhaps because of the ways foundries must be run makes that shift a requirement. Do foundries operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?
      Regards,
      Alan

ALAN Some foundries do not have New Years eve off. That said I think most GM plants close the week of Christmas/New Years. It takes a long time to get the furnaces ETC. ready to melt/pour iron. Also sometimes date tags were not changed or a number was not on the date tag . Numbers could wash off in the sand mold or get filled with loose sand. Most ran 24 hours but not 7 days a week normally.

          Hi Ken,
Thanks very much for the information about the furnaces. Especially for the insight on the date tags and numbers not always being changed.
