57 oil dipstick tube

just need to hear this from other members. is the dipstick tube painted engine color or natural steel color (unpainted). or something else, does it depend on vin?

The JM states "dipstick tube is also natural steel finish"

Chris -

The dipstick tube was installed at St. Louis, so it wouldn't be orange, and paint would interfere with the press fit in the hole in the block; they were natural.

The dipstick tube doesn't appear on the 1955 Engineering Bill of Material for Flint V-8, so it was installed at St. Louis.
