54 Rear E brake cable finish

Hi guys,
I need to know the finish for the sheet metal brackets crimped around the rear emergency brake cables on a 54. I have found some areas with black paint. Part of me thinks this is part of the blackout process, the other part is unsure.

Black high gloss paint and dont for get the cable seals to help keep water out.

And just as a little reminder also connect the other ends , then when you pull the handle the Corvette will hold on a hill.

Maybe some Chevy club sells them (47 to 54) but yes they can be easy to make like from carpet jute pad. Use the cover as a pattern
