    Trim Tag

The VIN on my 72 indicates that the car was built from May to June 1972, but the Trim Tag indicates November 25. Which date is reliable?

Like John said post your vin and trim tag info. November build on trim tag should be a D.

Your trim tag is June 12. Months for 72 trim tags start in August of 71 with the letter A. Final month is July. Letter L.

Doug, the Alpha character in the build date started with the first month of production, not January. I believe that you are OK

I have no idea where the car was purchased originally. I purchased it from one of Bob McDormann's corvette salesman.

                    Re: Trim Tag

While you are all on this topic, does the date on the trim tag precede the actual completion date of the build, or is the trim tag the actual completion date of the build? I am trying to track down the info for my car but have no POP or paperwork other than a remnant of tank sticker.

The reason I ask is that my trim tag is March 7 68, I was born a few days later, would be nice to know if my car and i rolled off the assembly line on the same day

                    Tks Pat

                      Re: Trim Tag

The trim tag date is the day the tag was manufactured and attached to the incomplete car as it rolled past a particular station on the assembly line. Depending on the time of day this occured, the day of the week, holidays, weekends etc. the actual completion might be the same day but most likely the next day or day after. My car has a L03 tag date but it is known that it came off the line on July 5th according to GM Canada paperwork.
