    454 Oilpan Installation Tips

My 1967 coupe has a 454 block. I removed the oilpan and am installing it with the standard 4 piece gasket set. Any tips on doing this right is appreciated. Thanks.

First of all, I would recommend a 1 piece gasket rather than the 4 piece, original style.

It's a pretty straight-forward installation. Make sure you tighten the bolts in THREE passes with the final pass to the prescribed torque values. Use a pattern for each pass in which you tighten the 4 end bolts first, then the 4 next to them, and so-on.
