put the float in a coffee can filled with water and set it on a electric hot plate. weight the float so it does NOT float to the top. when the water starts to boil the hole in the float will show up as bubbles. it was also boil all the gasoline out of the float. don't use your wifes cooking pot or pan for this. do not ask how i know this. looking at the picture of the float it looks like the same float used in a carter AFB. after you solder the leak recheck the float in the boiling water

I heard, but not certain, that the YH was used on boat motors. If so can you pick one up from a vintage boat source?

$500 WOW my tip should be worth at least $250. i guess you did not use your wives pot or pan since you can still type. the first time i did this i had to buy mrs clem a new pan as you could not get the gasoline smell out.

Well I still caught hell I used a coffee can just like you suggested on the stove and when I was done I dumped it in the sink and of course it smelled of the gas that was expelled out of float. Sometimes you just can't win. Thanks Ed
