    E-brake cable question

I installed new trailing arms yesterday and while reinstalling the emergency brake cable I got confused about where the spring on the cable goes relative to the clip on the t-arm and can't remember how they were on the old t-arms. The cables are replacement cables (if this makes a difference). I didn't see anything in the archives on this, so I was hoping someone could tell me which side of the t-arm clip the emergency brake cable spring goes? I assume that it should go to the rear of the car (toward the ball on the end of the cable).

    Thanks in advance as always
    Rob

    Re: E-brake cable question

The ball goes onto the "hook" located on the arm projecting from the e-brake shoes. The spring will then go on the other side of the "hook" which will capture the ball and be captured behind the nylon horseshoe clip. Check your AIM or SERVICE manual for additional info. The photo shows some of these areas. I don't have a photo of the end "hook".

      Stephen,

That's what I thought, but could not remember. I did check the AIM and CSM with no luck (at least they didn't show the spring orientation).

Thanks for the reply and by the way a picture is worth a thousand words.

Rob -- I tried to take a pic, but impossible with the wheel on. In fact, the ball and lever that Stephen properly describes is not really visible unless the caliper is removed.

          Hi Wayne,

It's all off right now, as I just finished putting new trailing arms in yesterday. I should take a picture, come to think of it, while all that is off.

          Thanks
          Rob
