Grinds going into 4th gear 1964

Had transmisssion rebuilt, new bearings and syncros, replaced clutch at same time. Everything works fine but the gears grind going into 4th, (normal shift not speed shift). If I shift very slowly it doesn't grind.
Rebuilder thinks it could be linkage adjustment. How do I check linkage. Also could rebuilder have put transmission together in such a way that it would only grind going into 4th.
    Thanks, Ted

I'm no transmission expert, but I just finished up rebuilding a 67 vintage Muncie along with a friend. (who was the real expert. )

It could be a clutch adjustment, but I would think that if that were the case, you would have issues in all 4 gears.

Did they replace the sliders and hubs when they rebuilt the trans? In my situation, I had severe wear on the second gear side of the 1/2 slider.

Wear, etc. on the slider can/will cause problems. New synchro rings will not cure it.

Sounds like the synchronizer or a blocking ring. I had one do exactly the same thing, had a small crack, not even all the way though, in the blocking ring.
