I just bought an NOS 515 VR for my '67. The one I took off had no markings. The NOS one has two long threaded stems, like bolts, on the back side of it. The one I took off has nothing at all on the back side. I have mounted the NOS one and all things work fine, but I am curious about the big differences here. Any thoughts on the design diffrences? Can these replacement VRs work without those threaded thingies?

and the left side of the mounting bolt has the markings:
12V
7A
The 7A is the date code that fits for my mid-Feb., 1967 build date. Took a while to find one like that.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Voltage Regulator differences
Yes, that's them. Thanks for the info, I am always curious about the old ways these things did their jobs. Very interesting how these seemingly mundane parts worked and how rare some of them are these days.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
