Re: windshield wiper arm removal for C2
I just changed my 61 wiper arms. I presume you have replacements, so have a look under the round splined attachment end and you note a small springed clip so when the wiper arm is pushed on it clips under the spline. This sounds a little shakey but if you put a cloth over the wiper arm base(the chrome bit that sits on a gasket on the car body) use a fairly wide bladed screw driver, put it on the cloth and rotate it up under the wiper blade, the retaining thingy will move out and allow the arm to come off. You may have to work your way around the wiper arm base. I do not know if the 66 is quite the same as 61. Hope this helps.Last edited by Richard G.; March 28, 2010, 09:49 PM. Daniel, there is a tool available just for such a thing. I would bet that most good automotive stores will have one. They go for about $10 and even Snap-On has a tool for this. -Clark- Top

Re: windshield wiper arm removal for C2
I hate to buy tools that only do one thing that seems like it should be easy to do without, but I did not want to risk damaging the paint or the arm. So I broke down and spent the $6 with Long Island Corvette for the tool. It is part # 55-16. Works like a champ.
The trick is eliminating the sideways pressure of the arm assembly on the shaft the wiper arm fits on. If you can do that the arm slides right off. It is tricky because of the tension caused by the spring when you lift it and no leverage on the other side, but the tool makes it a piece of cake.- Top

I agree with Clark and Larry, purchasing the tool is the best $6 dollars you will ever spend next to buying a big smokey at Carlisle for lunch..- Top
