    trunk spring squeek

I am taking my '61 to Gettysburg for PV in May. My trunk springs squeek when opening and closing. Any suggestions to stop the squeek? Any other things to be concerned with? Thanks, Mike

    Re: trunk spring squeek

my 57 trunk springs squeeked right before we left for its PV in Kissimmee. i lubricated all the pivot points and the squeek left. HOWEVER, the trunk lid now dropped about 12"( as i recall, the PV judge allows about a 2" drop). i was able to gently bend a strap of the hinge assembly which added enough friction to the hinge assembly such that the trunk lid didn't drop at all. good ludck with your PV. mike
