    Corvette Steering

I want to have my steering gearbox rebuilt and retuned and do not want a swapped out or replacement box. Searched the archives and found a recommendation for Corvette Steering to rebuild boxes but the archive was almost 5 years ago.

Does anyone have recent experience with Corveet Steering and their rebuild work and turn time? If anyone had their box rebuilt and retuned, what did it run? Any issues during or after installation?

    Thanks.

Dan, like most rebuilders today, the cost is according to what needs to be replaced, sometimes the boxes can have a normal rebuild (brgs, bushings seals,), if the gears are a problem then the cost factor is always more because these gears are generally a matched set, add about another 250. to the normal price. which ranges form 175-250.

If you do send your box out for rebuild I suggest that you pur some marking on the box, somewhere where it would be seen when bolted up.

Thank you Edward. Understand that few rebuilds are "standard" when dealing with 40 year old stuff. While I am not shooting for NCRS judging type resto, I do want a solid job done that won't have me wishing I had gone somewhere else down the road. And I do want to retain as many original pieces as possible as I go.

I agree. If I were going to have a steering box rebuilt (and not do it myself), I'd send it to Gary.
