Has anyone ever tried to sandblast a body on low pressure? I was wondering if this would be an alternative to soda blasting or sanding. I will be gelcoating the entire body. Would like to hear some opinions on this idea. Thanks, Mark

Re: Sandblasting Body?
I'm familiar and good about being easy on certain parts with low pressure and the right media but I don't think this is a good idea. Looks like it would be easy to dip the fiberglass body.
I have a "little blaster" cabinet and a 10 gal. wheel around and have blasted so many things so from my experience I wouldn't recommend it.
why do it anyway? buy some soda and a good trap and soda blast it yourself if you're doing this to save $$$$- Top

Re: Sandblasting Body?
I was wondering if you were to go at an extreme angle to the panel, almost like peeling it off , versus a straight on approach that would cup the panels. The soda is pretty expensive, and is not reusable, from what I have read? Mark- Top

Yes, you need to know what you are doing, but that also applies to most other methods.- Top

Re: Sandblasting Body?
i have all my bodys sand blasted, they actually use a mine byproduct called slag, all the pieces inside and out all the nooks and crannys, had one done last month $600, you are paying by the hour so tell the guy to put his best man on it , turn the pressure down a little and take his time, i would not do one a different way.- Top
