Frame Numbers / Date Issue

I removed undercoating from the frame, repainted it and want to add the frame numbers, date and shim marks. I received 2 stencils from LIC. The numbers stencil 39000200 / 303196-33 appears OK for my 67 but I have concerns regarding the date. LIC gave me a stencil for the date in m-d-yy format with instruction for placement to the rear of chassis. I was under the impression that the date was actually handwritten with a red greece pen in dd-mm-yy format with placement to the front of the chassis.

Can someone clarify the date issue for me.

The grease-penciled "pull date" wasn't used on 67's. The mm-dd-y stencil date format is correct (as is mm-y), and it is facing the rear; it's on the same line with the "303196", and with the stencil upside-down, the date is at the rear of that line relative to the car.
