Hello
I am attempting to restore my seat adjusters for my 57. They will require re-plating to look perfect. My question is what type of plating is on them? It looks to be some type of phosphate style coating. It is not black but a dark gray color. The surface the balls ride on this coating and it is in excellent shape on the ball tracks. I suspect it may have a hard style coating to stand up to the pressure from the seat adjuster ball bearings. I have owned the Corvette for over 30 years and can't ever remember adjusting the seats. That also accounts for the surface the balls ride on being in great shape.
Most the damage is at the base of the rails.
Thanks
