Early 68 conv outer door window seal

I have 3 68 conv's and all have the snap in fuzzy for the outer door window seal. Two do not look like they have ever been apart. I am restoring the first for NCRS flight judging. When you buy new seals you get rubber one's from parts suppliers, but their is no way to attach them. What is correct ? Help, neet to make NCRS regional in May.

    Alan,

I looked in the '68/'69 JM and found nothing. In looking at the AIM, it appears that the rubber side bolts next to interior of the door, then the fuzzies sandwich in on both sides of the glass. In my AIM they are all attached by screws that hold them together on both sides. I looked at mine '68 but could not tell how they were attached.

Looked at the AIM myself and it only calls out screws.

Alan, I have a friend that just went through the same thing you are going through, I believe that 68 is different than 69-73 , I will see if I can get you some info on those sealing strips.

Alan I replaced the fuzzy outer window seal on my original owner 68 many years ago, about 1984. There are only two screws to retain the seals to the door. One screw is about 5 1/2 inches from the front of the window seal strip and the other screw is about 1 inch from the rear of the seal strip. The strip is also retained by push in nubs attached to the fuzzy seal strip. My replacements came from GM.

Tim, Jerry, I recall this happening to my friends 68 conv. is there a production change that either of you may recall on that sealing strip?I believe there may have been an early and late design change.

I think that Corvette Central sells the "fuzzy" ones. They developed them about 10 years ago, and they are far better than the rubber ones - which, you've noted, are not correct.
See if the ones they have are what you're after.
