65 Coupe w P/S Tie Rod end orientation

Hello All. I am redooing the steering assy on my 65 Coupe. When I took it appart the tie rod ends with yellow paint were on the right outer and left inner positions. These ends have right hand threads. The napa catalog says that the right hand threads go on the right inner and left outer positions. What has me confused is that the cassis service manual states that to center the wheel without changing toe you should turn both tie rod sleeves the same direction an equal amount. This would shorten one assy while lenghtening the other by the same amount so that toe doesn't change but the steering wheel postion does. Well it seems to me that in order to have this work correctly the tie rod ends with the right hand threads would have to either be on both inner or both outer positiions. Can anyone tell me for sure where the ends with the yellow paint go? Thanks in advance.

There has been much controversy regarding this subject. However, GM says that the right hand thread tie rod ends (the ones that often have a daub of yellow paint) are installed on the OUTER ends, both sides. The left hand-threaded tie rod ends go on the INNER ends, both sides. The inner rod ends sometimes have a blue paint daub. I believe the GM information is correct.

The parts house books have never been correct on this issue.

        Thanks Guys,
I belived that this was correct since the steering knuckle has yellow paint on it as well. I was just confused since mine was not that way when I took it apart. Thanks for the help. I will put the yellow right hand ends on both outer sides.
        Thanks again,
        Bill
