Carb on Flee bay date question

I found this on flee bay. The way I read the numbers on the Carb it looks like it is for a 69 Chevy with a manual trans. But if you look at the date code the way I read it was made on the 171 day in 1967?? Am I wrong?

I thought that too, but wouldn't a carb manufactured in 77 start with "170" ??

      I'm not disagreeing.....I don't know, I'm just asking.

If the carb was made for a 1977 car that would be the case. 7029207 is a 1969 part number by application. That particular carb in the auction was just built in 1977 for the 1969 car.

Thanks for the response. It's Buyer beware on Ebay.

As Sal said this is a service date carb. It is for the 1969 Corvette L46 350/350 engine. The deduction for the wrong date on the carb would be 12 points.

                Larry,

What would be an aceptable date for a mid July 69 car? How much varience are we alowed before the deduction kicks in?

Joseph, the rule of thumb for judging is 6 months prior to the build date of the car. This is for all dated parts.
