1961 FI Generator

I need to order a generator tag for a 1961 315-HP Generator. The 61-62 JG list two generators for this application. The 1102173 is the 1st design and 1102268 is the 2cd design. My car has a build date of January 30, 1961. Is there a general cutoff date between the first and second design, or how would one know what is the correct part number for a January application?
