Re: Where is the 2010 Nationals JUDGING Field?
Dave,
thought I had posted it was "under" the grandstands at the dragstrip - so not "completely outside", but not "completely enclosed" as we were at the garages - the BoD tours the "new" location this coming weekend as part of their BoD meeting - would assume an OFFICIAL announcement would come out after the BoD meetingRick Aleshire

Re: Where is the 2010 Nationals JUDGING Field?
Here's an excerpt from NCRS President, Vito Cimilluca's President message in the spring issue of The Restorer which left the printer late last week.
Following is a copy of an announcement from the 2010 National Convention Host Chapter. Please read carefully, as there have been some changes to our venue:
The convention judging area has moved to another part of the Charlotte Motor Speedway complex, the zMAX Dragway. This site is more convenient to the host hotel and offers RV hookups on the premises. The judging portion ONLYREMAIN THE SAME with the exception of the SPEEDWAY TRACK LAPS. This event has moved to Wednesday instead of Thursday.resalered@prtcnet.com. Remember, shuttle service to and from the drag strip will be offered only to guests staying at hotels with designated NCRS room blocks.

The membership should be acutely aware of what their had-earned membership dollars are paying for,
whether it be an air-conditioned pit garage area, ....under grandstands, ....or inside a large restroom.
Thanks for posting.Good carburetion is fuelish hot air . . .- Top

Re: Where is the 2010 Nationals JUDGING Field?
Thanks for the information about the judged cars. Does anyone know at this time about how the Sportsman cars will be handled? Will they be available to drive at the end of each day or back and forth from the hotel to the judging area? Where will their display be located? Any information is appreciated.
Thanks,Terry Buchanan

Thanks,
I can not tell you specifically about the 2010 National (and remembering that I got my pinkies slapped for telling people on this board what I thought was some of the logistics in response to their questions many months ago -- that gave rise to the sticky about convention questions at the top of the page), but at every NCRS event I have attended arrangements have been made for the Sportsman cars to come and go each day. Some events even have Corvette specific parking at the host hotel, but that is often difficult to enforce with non-convention parkers not respecting our space.
The one "new wrinkle" was at the 2009 National where those Sportsman cars that did not need to be moved each day were allowed to park inside the convention center with the rest of the judged cars. I would tend to regard that as a "one-time" event and not expect a repeat anytime soon.
In the end local logistics (which is what you are inquiring about) will dictate the details of the answers to your questions. You will need to hear the answers from one of the 2010 Convention officials.Terry- Top

Re: Where is the 2010 Nationals JUDGING Field?
I am Jimmy Gregg. I am in charge of all non hotel activities related to the 2010 Convention, which includes the show field. I have not posted any notices or responses because the NCRS Board of Directors is meeting this weekend. I will be showing them and Roy Sinor my proposals for all car placement then. Once the BOD and Roy reviews and hopefully approves our plans, I will post as much as I can concerning the event. Approval is needed before plans can be set in stone. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at tio2jim@aol.com and I will try to answer them. At this time all I can say is that after 3 Regional at the garages, we think the Zmax Drag Strip might be a better venue. Lots of details need to be completed, but it really looks promising.Founder - Carolinas Chapter NCRS- Top

Re: Where is the 2010 Nationals JUDGING Field?
I sure hope they keep everyone off the grandstand seats!!
Specially if they go up there with soda and other junk....
It would REALLY stink if someone dropped a MEGA Slurpy and it landed on a car!!!
My 2 cents...- Top

To all the folks down south of me, in charge of the minor issue. I'm very confident the decisions you make will work out perfect! I personally will be looking forward to a "new" location.
Those loud race cars are just annoying! LOL
Really, thanks for keeping us posted! Don't lose any sleep over it!

Re: Where is the 2010 Nationals JUDGING Field?
Is this the same drag strip where they were running a "Pinks All Out" event during the Charlotte Regional last year? There were beaucoup drag racers staying at the Embassy Suites for that event.
Best regards,- Top
