Correct me if I am wrong, but I am aware of no sellers/manufacturers of a repro inner lens for a 58 speedo. If I am correct, can someone please recommend someone who does an excellent job of polishing & "restoring" the inner lens for a 58 speedo? Thanks

Re: Inner Speedo Lens for 58
I always thought 58-62 lenses were identical? I'm not in front of any reference material......what is different on a 58 lens?
58-62 speedo lens
edit....I just realized you're asking about the "inner" lens? What's "inner"? Do you mean the "Brake" and "Beam" lenses? ....or maybe I need more coffee.Last edited by Richard M.; December 13, 2010, 06:10 AM.- Top

Re: Inner Speedo Lens for 58
David, yes I just refreshed the brain on the differences and see in Noland's book on page 251, the '58 speedo has what appears to be the inner lens with just the dots. Right you are......I have never seen the inner lens listed anywhere now that you bring this up. If you find it maybe post it here for others in the future. If you cannot find it, maybe polish and some green paint for the dots may pretty it up. I have great results using Mothers Aluminum Polish on clear lenses.
I also see reference that 53-58 tach & small gauges lenses were convex(outward), and 59-62 lenses are concave(inwards).

Re: Inner Speedo Lens for 58
Thanks for the tip on Mother's Aluminum Polish Rich. I was watching Car Crazy over the weekend & McGuire's had an add for a new plastic polish they came out with for today's modern headlight lenses. Anybody used that stuff yet for polishing plastic old instrument gauge lenses that are not reproed?- Top
