I'm confused.....I see parting lines and ground smooth areas.

I think you're seeing the result of the forging dies acting on the end of the red hot bar stock. I would expect a parting line for the whole length on both sides on a casting.

It doesn't make sense to cast a round bar, but I'm used to high volume parts...

These lines are from the forging dies. You can even see evidence of the forging "scale" that's often seen on these rods.

          This is what it says:
          GM PART # 3764839
          CATEGORY: All
          PACK QTY: 1
          CORE CHARGE: $0.00
          GM LIST: $20.47
          OUR PRICE: $12.14

          DESCRIPTION: BUSHING

edit: vendors sell for about $60 for 4, so I'd say it's a single piece price...?

Ok, I've learned much about these. Thanks for clearing up my confusion.

              Richard,
Also try Willcox Corvette, 800-588-3883 He sent me two, 3775762, for my C2 for 17.35 including shipping via post office. Bet his price for your 3764839 is about the same as parts direct.

These two parts look the same - the C1 is 1.14 while the C2 is 1.18 is that all the difference?

OK, I KNEW that at one time I had bought them from Chev Parts Dept 2/box. So, I started going through my boxes of misc parts.
BUUUUUUUUUT, as you can see, I have TWO different types of the SAME part number. One is a box of two, the other is a single in a box.

Don't you just love blue & white boxes.........

Tom, I see these are much better quality than what the reproduction part is. I'd be curious to know what a caliper says the o.d. on those are.

I'm not at hands reach to the JG, but either way I'd imagine these service replacements or repros must take a judging hit. Especially after now knowing, as Joe L pointed out, that the originals were vulcanized directly into the rod ends.

p.s. I can't get over that there's so much I don't know about these cars after 25 years of playing around with them.

Ok, I checked five. Three measured 1.138 and 2 measured 1.137.
