    59 FI wiring question

This question has come up time and time again and I do not have the answer.
59 FI car with a 7017300 unit on it. For those of you that don't know the '7300 unit started off life as a 57 FI. Therefore the "choke" wiring harness is identical to a '57.
But a typical repro '59 engine starting harness has no provision to plug in the '7300 57 style wiring harness.

    What's a fellow to do?
Now if you had a '59 FI car that used various other FI models you would have no problem as the choke wire-1 wire- would just go to the 12V side of ballast resistor.

Anyone have an original wiring harness or an original '59 Fi car with a '7300 unit on it? Thanks, JD
P.S. I have told a few people to buy a '57 FI wiring harness. But I was wrong as they won't fit the '59

    John:

I have an original harness. Which wires would you expect the '57 FI harness to connect to? I don't see a connector. (The 7017300 has been off for a long time.)

      John:

I was just digging through some FI stuff that has been on a shelf forever, and came across the original choke assembly for the 7300 unit on my '59. The connector confirms that there was a connector on the car when new.
I looked at the original starter harness and see no evidence that a connector was cut off the harness. FI only two-wire harness? Dunno.

        Re: 59 FI wiring question

Hi Bill, Thanks for the nice pic and replying. Notice the cold enrichment cover (choke cover) has the rare cream colored female connector. So you say on your original 59 starting wiring harness you do not see a provision in your harness for the choke setup???hmmmm. For some reason this 7300 wiring on a 59 seems to be a mystery as far as wiring goes. Thanks, John
