    63 Tach problem

Tach (gauge in dash) was working. Disconnected tach cable from gauge for easier access to hi beam and other bulbs that were not working. Reconnected tach cable. Tach not working. Disconnected cable and noticed pink plastic fitting on end of cable. This fitting apparently seats inside the gauge and has never come out before when I have disconnected the cable. The end was somewhat twisted. I'm thinking it might not have been seated fully and had been spinning with the cable but not turning the gauge gear. I straightened it up and tried to make sure it was fully seated, but the tach needle still no move. Is this a replaceable part? Comments?

    Steve,

Check to see it the plastic piece is securely connected to the cable. If not this may be the problem. Back in the day they use to make repair cables that you cut the right length and then melted the plastic piece to the end of the cable. If the plastic is disconnected and is not fit into a square end of the cable. the cable must be replaced. I think they can be easily obtained.

The photo of the cable in the CC catalog shows the metal end of the cable without the plastic piece.
