    Re: 1966 Wheel date

In the past 30 years I have owned the following ten dated original 65-66 Corvette steel wheels made by Kelsey-Hayes. All have "GM" stamped on the front face and "15 X 15 1/2 JK", the Kelsey-Hayes logo, and the date code stamped on the rim part which you can not see when a tire is installed.
one with "12 64" (riveted instead of welded)
    three with "3 65"
    three with "11 65"
three with "6" or "9'" but without a stamped year

In Jan. 1992 at the NCRS swap meet in Cypress Gardens I saw an early 1965 wheel dated "8 64" dated that was welded which is the norm. The "12 64" riveted wheel that I once owned is quite unusual.

      Re: 1966 Wheel date

      I sell corvette parts everyday.
when someone asks me to look through the fifty or more 1965-6 wheels I have in stock . my question to them is, are you going to get the car judged?OH YES the answer is .are going to remove all your tires at the show?WELL NO .So why are you asking me for the date.Thank you for all you guys that agree with me. And be happy to find the wheel that just are getting harder and harder to find.

Curious, has any one seen 1966 dated wheels and if so what were the dates?

          David -- here's a 12_64, but this one's welded construction.

Ronald -- here's a DB link to a pic showing a 2_66. I'm sure there are others, maybe even on my car (tires on). None of my wheels were factory original to my cars. I'm sure you will find another 2 or 3 months' stamps to the end of '66 factory production.

Here's another shot (maybe one of Tracy C.'s collection) showing they were still producing 15x5_1/2 K's (not JK's) with a date of 7_64; one month before starting the '65 wheels.
