I was thinking of ordering one for my 1974. But there are hints here that they do not work on Windows 7??

Re: NCRS CDs on Windows 7?
I was told that it is an issue with 64 bit technology. They worked on my old computer but not on my new one...keeps looking and asking to load the 32 bit driver. I was told that there is not solution at this time.Henry Atsma

Re: NCRS CDs on Windows 7?
Paul, I have Windows 7 64 bit on my machine, and my 58-60 Restorer CD is running just fine.
BUT.. what I have done is: copy all files from the CD to my hard Drive and placed into a folder named "whatever" .
Then navigate to the folder, select the file icon named "NCRS*****" it is the biggest file in the folder and will have the letter A in the icon.
Right click the icon, and select troubleshoot compatibilty, a window will open , select "try recommended settings" , hit next... the File will open, and you will be able to do all that you could when using the CD in XP , or whatever systenm you previously had loaded. Once it is running, reselect the compatibility window, and tell it that the settings worked, and apply these to the program. that way it will fire straight up in future without any further rigamarol.....
Also, I would go back to the folder containing the NCRS*** file, right click on it, and drag to the desktop, when you release the mouse button, select make a shortcut here, that way you can get it running from a simple doubleclick on your desktop.
I hope this helps, I have tried not to be geeky... if you need any further help, let me know,
Regards, Dave.- Top

Re: NCRS CDs on Windows 7?
I have been able to use the search option on my Restorer CD (Complete Edition Version 32.4, 2006). We bought a HP bundle at Best Buy around Thanksgiving that included a HP Desktop, HP laptop and HP notebook. They are all loaded with Windows 7. There is a post now about "whel weights" on the forum so I just did a search on the CD and pulled up probably 40 or so articles at least. One frustration is that unless it's noted in the article then you don't know which issue it is in. You get the information, you just don't know where it came from!!When I click on certain issues you can see the cover but it won't list the contents.

Re: NCRS CDs on Windows 7?
Hi Henry,
I am not sure what is causing your issue...BUT, when you copy the files to your desktop machine, make sure you have ALL the files and folders from the CD, not just the application file...
insert the CD to the drive , go to "My Computer" select the CD icon ,right click, explore, select all files, drag to new folder on your desktop,
then follow earlier post.
hope this helps, Dave.- Top

I don't know what I did the first time I loaded it but it worked this time. On my specific disk there are 4 files:
1. Adobe Reader
2. Install Reader
3. autorun [which is setup information]
4. NCRS [application]
For other's information after it loaded I did as you suggested going into the "NCRS properties" and changed the compatibility tab to "Windows XP service pack 3 (don't forget to hit "apply" at the bottom) and it worked. After I loaded it, expand the files, right clicked the NCRS file, clicked on send to and put a shortcut on the desktop.
Thanks again Dave.Last edited by Henry S.; March 12, 2010, 11:42 AM.- Top
