    intake manifold head markings

I have read the judging manual for the 67 small block and have a question concerning the bolts for the aluminum intake manifold. I see what the manual calls for as far as head marks, but none of my bolts have these markings. Nine bolts from my manifold have what appear to be a "wp" with no space between the letters, appear attached, and 3 bolts with an "m". Has anyone seen these on other aluminum manifolds or are mine all wrong. Thanks, Dennis

    Dennis,

I think thats WB not WP. And WB and M are both correct era headmarkings for 67's.

Thanks for your quick response. I looked at the bolts again and the marking is definitely "WP" or possibly "up" but the letters are connected. The letters are underlined and there are 3 small lines radiating out from the letters spaced at equal intervals around the head. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Dennis

        Re: intake manifold head markings

The letters or symbols on head markings are occasionally only partially present, as the depressions in the head forming dies sometimes filled with crud from the heading process. A WP could very well be a WB that's only partially formed. This defect might have existed for an entire run of parts, or at least until the header operator noticed and cleaned the die.

The radial lines specify the strength class of the bolt.

Look again not "up" but I bet it's UR They are connected and also a period correct headmarking.

My bolts do not look like the ones shown. I will try to post a picture of mine with this response.
