I recently (December 2009) was in the market for a Battery float charger. I always use my latest copy of 'Driveline' when looking for parts, and I came across a full page ad for "Restoration Battery/ Cincinnati, OH 45247' and I purchased the 'BatteryMinder plus' #12117 which I can't say enough about. It's made by VDC Electronics and is made in the USA and is an excellant product. When it senses the batery charge is full, it switches to it's 'Desulphation mode' Works great on wet celll, gel and AGM batteries.
But I was talking to some member of my local Corvette Club and one of them happened to ask if it did a battery like a Optima or Odyssey type batteries and I called VDC Electronics and a very helpful Technician informed me that while the model #12117 will work on a Optima, it's not really intended for that battery. Turns out the BatteryMinder #12118 is specificly made for the Optima and Odyssey batteries.
But thr reason for my post and as we all have have disappointments Doing business with Restoration battery Inc. was one of a Very pleasent expierence. Tom and Dick run the buisness are real gentlemen and even when they found out I had purchased the slightly wrong float charger three months earlier, they offered to have me pack it up and send it back. I declined, but it's great that a Vendor will good to what ever lengths to have a satisfied customer. I hope all of you my fellow NCRS members will consider this company in the future.
